RECORD BREAKING PRICES AT HARPER FIELD MARCH AUCTION

On 18th March Harper Field held their most successful ever jewellery auction, which featured 1100 lots of jewellery alone, along with watches, silver, coins and other small valuables, and attracted thousands of bidders.

Star of the show was lot 194, a natural pearl necklace with diamond and emerald clasp – a very desirable item which attracted interest from Europe and beyond. Several phone lines, online bidding and buyers in the room made for an exciting atmosphere, and the necklace was sold for an exceptional £43,400. Natural pearls are becoming increasingly sought after due to their rarity, and jewellery specialist Alexandra is skilled at identifying natural pearls due to 14 years of experience. This amazing result for a local client just goes to prove that it is vital to get advice from a qualified specialist before selling your jewellery, and be sure that they have the internationally recognised DGA and FGA qualifications which Alexandra holds.

Other highlights from the auction include Victorian Hunt & Roskell serpent necklace, sold for £6820; a Georgian heart shaped pendant set with a diamond, emerald, amethyst and ruby spelling ‘dear’, sold for £2418; three Victorian swallow brooches sold for £1054, £1612 and £2728 respectively, and a Victorian necklace set with garnet cabochons which sold for £4960.

Harper Field offer free valuations every Friday 9am-4pm (closed on Good Friday). Please call 01453 766788 to book an appointment with Alexandra and get professional advice.
