Despite the move to digital photography, film cameras are still highly collectable, including examples from the dawn of photography with large mahogany plate cameras to folding bellows cameras of the pre war era. A recent highlight was a stereoscopic camera which was found in a particularly scruffy box full, brought down from the vendor’s loft, which went on to make £2,900. Likewise two Dallmeyer Super Six lenses were found in a bag of 35mm SLR equipment, and sold as two separate lots totalled over £15,000.
We have also dealt with large collections, including a private collection of cine cameras, projectors and films, totalling over 60 lots of everything from 8 and 9.5mm to 35mm. Individual cameras including Hasselblad, Leica, Rolleiflex and Mamiya are always popular, with good examples always achieving excellent prices.
