Playing cards, chess sets and antique games make up the oldest parts of the Toy department with some items dating back to the 17thC and earlier.

Collectors bid from around the world competing to buy some of the rarest and most valuable examples. Alongside playing cards and chess sets the section also includes spinning tops, gaming balls, dice and other primitive games. 

Harper Field have handled some large private collections of both playing cards and chess sets with some of the best examples selling for tens of thousands of pounds each.
