For 200 years or so the pocket watch was the portable timepiece of choice, a must-have fashion accessory for every well-dressed gentleman along with a fob watch for his accompanying lady.
More recently, with the overwhelming use of wristwatches, pocket watches have fallen out of favour as a fashion item but at the same time have become very popular with collectors.
